Aankomende donderdag gaat The Grand Budapest Hotel in première. Dat is de achtste speelfilm van Wes Anderson. Een uitgelezen kans om filmjournalist Matt Zoller Seitz te bevragen over zijn boek The Wes Anderson Collection. Zodoende sprak onze kersverse presentator Jelte Posthumus met Seitz over de bijzondere vriendschap tussen een filmcriticus en een excentrieke cineast. Na twintig jaar geleden gelijktijdig te zijn begonnen aan een filmgerelateerde carriëre, kan Seitz magnum opus als een kroon op die samenwerking worden beschouwd. Ook Anderson’s nieuwste film kwam ter sprake, een productie die volgens Seitz exemplarisch is voor Anderson’s artistieke stijgende lijn. Afsluitend werd nog even ingehaakt op de televisieserie True Detective. Seitz schreef meerdere artikelen hierover als editor-in-chief van RogerEbert.com, en is, net zoals zoveel anderen, betoverd en verrast.

Next thursday The Grand Budapest Hotel will have its Dutch premiere. This is Wes Anderson’s eight motion picture. That’s why it was an excellent chance to interview filmjournalist Matt Zoller Seitz on his book The Wes Anderson Collection. Our brand-new presenter Jelte Posthumus spoke to Seitz on several subjects, among other things the extraordinary friendship between a filmcritic and an excentric film maker. After  simultaneously starting a filmrelated carreer, Seitz magnum opus kan be regarded as an extra appreciation of their relationship. Andersons latest film was also one of the topics last night, and according to Seitz, The Grand Budapest Hotel is an example of Andersons artistic improvement. Lastly, Seitz spoke about the praised and criticized series True Detective. Seitz wrote several articles on this subject, as the editor-in-chief of RogerEbert.com, and he is, like so many, enticed and surprised by this show.
